When connecting cables longed than 25 meters to an VFD there are 3 solutions on the marked.

1. Use an output reactor.

2. Use an output dU/dt filter

3. Use an Output Sinus filter.

Al these solutions have a significant amount of loss. Generating from 4% to 10% op the output power of the VFD into heat. Specially sinus filters can run at temperatures up to 130°C. When usuing a 100 kW drive system up to 10 kW will be lost in generating unwanted heat.

What is the dv/dt of a Frequency inverter.

Modern 400V IGBT equipped VFD can switch output voltage between 0 and 565 volts under 100 ns. That is 0.1µs or 0.0000001 second.

The resulting dV/dt is 5650 V/µs.

Other disadvantages of conventional filters.

Output filters may prevent special features of drive systems to work properly.

Special features like Vector control, motor tuning, PG feedback, braking, current limiting, torque control etc may be affected or even be impossible when an output filter is used.
